Since 1954, Wayside Recovery Center has improved the lives of more than 32,000 women and 6,100 children impacted by trauma and addiction in Minnesota. Wayside has grown significantly over the decades and now operates as a Comprehensive Behavioral Health Clinic and as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
As Wayside expanded its programs and services, it needed to level up how its data could be accessed, and it needed greater flexibility in building workflows for new programs and services.
After extensive demos and reference calls across Minnesota, Wayside selected and implemented the Credible Behavioral Health EHR from Qualifacts to support its ongoing growth and success.
“We needed a system that could match our service and billing needs,” said Teresa Evans, Interim CEO for Wayside. “As a CCBHC, we expanded our service lines and needed a system that would give us time efficient documentation, track care coordination, have all of our services in one system, maximize our billing potential and ensure we had all the data we needed to accurately report and make data driven decisions for future quality improvements.”
Wayside’s CCBHC programs and services drove the integrated platform search that led to its selection of the Credible EHR: “We knew what we wanted to build out to support the continuum of care, including assessments, care coordination tracking, behavioral health services and primary care services,” Evans said. “We needed an EHR that could support our growth and ensure that our clinical teams can spend as much of their time supporting our clients. Credible has done just that.”
Staff Satisfaction Success
Switching from one EHR platform to another is a significant organizational effort. Gaining ease of use, accuracy, efficiency, and satisfaction across the organization makes the investment worthwhile. For Wayside, the switch to Credible has paid off. “Prior to Credible, each admit would take case managers 1.5 hours with the amount of paperwork that had to be signed, and sometimes we had 3 admits a day,” a Wayside staff member shared with the team. “Credible has cut this time down to only 20-30 minutes!! I feel SO. MUCH. RELIEF, now that I’m able to completely focus on my caseload and train our new staff. I cannot thank you enough!”
“Our end users have reported that the Credible EHR has delivered significant benefits,” said Alexander Bigus, EHR Administrator for Wayside. “Workflows that had been done on paper are being moved into the EHR. Our teams are working together on a consistent, ongoing basis to do with Credible what we couldn’t do before.”
Ongoing and Evolutionary Success
As Wayside continues to expand its services, self-managed enhancements to the Credible EHR are ongoing. “People provide feedback to us on what they need, and we can add new forms and add fields to existing ones. We added fields to three different forms today,” Bigus said. “We are comfortable and familiar with injecting and mapping of data across areas of the EHR, as we need to.”
Organizational Performance Success
When an organization is expanding and adding programs and services lines, easy access to data, metrics and analytics is necessary to understand what is working and where focused attention is needed. Wayside didn’t have that visibility before Credible.
As an organization, we needed to know our financial status better, and for our EHR platform to be able to tell us,” said Adekola Adediran Jr., MBA, Director, Revenue Cycle and Systems for Wayside. “In our legacy system, we could not extract financial data, there were duplicate data entry demands, and thus wasted effort; and there were issues with forms, and with reporting. We had to do a lot of manual work to understand the trends and that affected our decision making. With Credible, we have the data and reporting we need, with the easy visibility to see our finances and to manage and guide our growth.”
