Standing with Our Customers to Expand Access for LGBTQ+ Communities
Pride Month is a time to celebrate progress and a time to reflect on the work still ahead.
Across the behavioral health landscape, providers continue to expand access to care for LGBTQ+ individuals, addressing long-standing disparities driven by stigma, discrimination, and barriers to treatment. These organizations are not only delivering care, but they’re also building environments where clients and patients feel seen, respected, and safe.
At Qualifacts, we’re proud to support these efforts by equipping providers with technology that helps make inclusive, affirming care possible at scale.
Spotlight: Mile High Behavioral Healthcare
One of the many organizations leading this work is Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, which has built programs specifically designed to support LGBTQ+ communities, including the Denver Element program and the Transgender Center of the Rockies.
As Zane Guilfoyle, Director of Public Health at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, shared:
“Pride is both a celebration and a call to reflection. It invites us to remember a history shaped by resilience—generations of LGBTQ+ individuals who endured stigma, invisibility, and violence so that future communities could live more openly and safely. We honor those who came before us, whose courage and sacrifice made progress possible.”
Their work acknowledges both the history and the present-day reality facing LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly when it comes to accessing mental health services.
“LGBTQ+ communities continue to experience significant disparities in health—particularly in mental health—driven not by identity, but by stigma, discrimination, and barriers to care. That is why, at Mile High, we firmly believe the work of providing affirming services is not just important, but lifesaving.”
This commitment to affirming care reflects a broader truth: inclusive behavioral healthcare is not optional; it is essential.
Enabling More Inclusive Care Through Technology
While compassionate providers lead the way, technology plays a critical role in supporting inclusive experiences at every step of the care journey.
At Qualifacts, we work closely with our customers to ensure their systems support the needs of diverse patient populations, including:
- Preferred name functionality, allowing providers to record and use the name clients/patients identify with, helping reduce distress and build trust
- Gender identity fields, enabling more accurate, respectful documentation and reporting
- Flexible workflows and documentation, so care teams can deliver personalized, affirming interactions
These capabilities may seem simple, but they can have a meaningful impact on client experience, especially for individuals who have historically felt unseen or misunderstood in healthcare settings.
Even something as basic as displaying a client’s correct name can influence whether someone feels comfortable continuing care.
Looking Ahead: A Shared Responsibility
Pride Month is also a reminder that progress requires continued action, not just awareness.
As Zane Guilfoyle emphasized:
“Pride is also a reminder that each of us has a role to play. Whether through education, advocacy, or simple acts of kindness, we can all contribute to expanding access to inclusive, affirming care and building a future where everyone can thrive.”
At Qualifacts, that responsibility means continuing to support providers with the tools, flexibility, and partnership they need to deliver equitable care.
Because when healthcare systems are designed to recognize and respect every individual, providers can focus on what matters most: helping people thrive in their healthcare journeys.
