Qualifacts Donates CareLogic™ to Local School
Students at The Academies of Nashville – Health Sciences look forward to ‘real-world’ experience with behavioral health EHR
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 21, 2010 – Qualifacts Systems Inc., announced today that they have partnered with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) to provide students access to the company’s behavioral electronic health record (EHR) system, CareLogic™. The program will pilot at Hillwood High School’s Academy of Health Sciences starting this fall with plans to roll-out to healthcare-focused career academies at other Nashville high schools as early as January 2011.
The career academies have been launched at all 12 zoned high schools as part of MNPS’ overall transformation initiative. With a vision of creating “world class schools that graduate college and career-ready students in partnership with the community,” there are three overarching goals of The Academies of Nashville: 1) transform teaching and learning; 2) restructure schools; and 3) sustain change through business and civic leadership.
The partnership with Qualifacts was announced Friday, June 18, at The Academies of Nashville 2010 Celebration of Current and Future Business-Education Partnerships. According to Donna Gilley, career and technical education coordinator for MNPS, the active engagement of community leaders is key to the success of the program.
“We can’t accomplish our goals without the support and involvement of the community,” says Gilley. “When business and industry contribute their real-world knowledge and experience, students immediately see the relevance to their future education and careers.”
Students will work with the same Qualifacts EHR that thousands of doctors, nurses, social workers and administrators use every day. Each academy will create test patients so students can simulate scheduling, note taking and submitting bills in a realistic environment to gain a better understanding of medical record keeping.
“With today’s increasing demand for skilled healthcare professionals, Qualifacts is thrilled to be working with Nashville schools and helping our children learn more about healthcare technology,” says David Klements, CEO for Qualifacts.
